This is my photo for this month. Using Sagelight, I’m going to try to have this image tell a different story each week.
First up, I cropped the image. I added soft focus and a vignette and played with the threshold. Then I inverted the area at the end of the archway which makes it appear as if it’s night with a person caught in the lights. To me the overall effect is somewhat threatening.
One Four Challenge for March – hosted by Robyn at Captivate Me
Lynne, this is a great variation of your original. It definitely does feel ominous. I like the way you approach our challenge 😀

Hi Robyn – thank you – having a goal I can better evaluate my editing choices, to see if I succeeded – if nothing else it tells me when to stop 😀

Quite a transformation, kind of reminds me of the saying “something wicked comes this way” but I am not sure why.

Oh wow, what a dramatic shift from the original! The distant figure is suddenly very important to the story. Sagelight??? I will have to Google that…

Clever! And I would have no idea how to do the reversal – except presumably it involves layers and layer masks…..?

Hi Sue. I think in most editing programs there is an invert button, but rather than complicated layering and masking I then simply used Sagelights undo brush to remove the invert from the image except at the end of the arch.

Interesting concept. What a change with the reversal. Intrigued to see where you take this to next!

It is ominous! Like going from reality into dreamland. I like the crop and the shadowing in the arches and on the floor. Chilling!
