It’s all pretty but I really like the coral colours we can get on the maples.

Mmmm, yes – I’ve been told the reds come from the sugar content in the leaves….

I believe so but it also requires the right frost and if it has been too dry we seem to get more yellows than reds and oranges and coral.

Ummm – The Gatineau, R’s family’s cottage – that’s what I think of when I think of Canada now, it’s what I loved about the place … R said he was going back to see his Mother in October – I hope some of the leaves stay for him, but perhaps he doesn’t miss them, tied up with memories of encroaching cold and dark which he seemed to hate more than I … 🙂
