Five Minute Friday: Real

From Gypsy Mama: Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.  We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. So we take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to run when we were kids.

We write with gusto, unselfconscious and flat-out.  Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

Here is my five minutes on: Real

Is this real?  Everybody seems to ask, “How do you know if it’s real?”  She was sitting at the table alone.  He was late but that was OK.  The table was nicely set with beautiful glasses, shining flatware, and in the centre a candle.  Aromas wafted around the great room, dinner chatter filled the spaces.  She looked up and saw him approaching; smiling, his eyes began to dance.  As he got closer she felt it, that magic circle that seemed to envelope them both.  It settled ever so softly around them – dinner chatter faded into the background as he spoke.  She knew.  It was real.

  1. Lynne,
I love the free writing exercise, whether it is for 5 minutes of an hour just to write without thinking brings up so many new creative directions 🙂
