“The cure for anything is saltwater – sweat, tears or the sea.”
– Karen Blixen, pen name: Isak Dinesen
I am mesmerized by the sea,
the waves that roll unceasingly,
the breeze in my face and the salt on my tongue,
its unyielding power that gives up to no man,
yet when spent lies becalmed in shimmering afternoon light.
Weekly photo challenge is: The Sea
Some paintings inspired by the sea …
Wonderful idea – love the quote – and you’ll see my comments on the watercolors – all wonderful!

I DID see your kind comments, thank you. I like that quote too – I have washed a lot of hurt away with tears, and been reinvigorated by the breath of the sea … sweat, not so much 🙂

But if it were a sauna, in a cold climate, I bet you’d be happy to cure a few things with sweat!

All taken in various places – all with the same pull. Thank you, Amy. It’s ridiculous how many of my paintings have water in some form in them.

Beautiful photographs and a very true quote. There is nothing better than living near any sea, what ever the weather, it is very, very special.

Are you one of the lucky ones then, Jo? The first shots on your post reminded me of heavy seas we saw near Teignmouth in Devon.

There is something magical about the ocean. The sound of the waves and the smell of the salt water and ocean life have such an amazing affect on the human imagination. You did a wonderful job of capturing that in your photos.

Thank you, Charlie. I have always had the fond wish to live by water but the closest I’ve come is a stream a quarter mile in our woods that runs dry every summer. Not even close enough for a gurgle or a swoosh when it’s running. 😦
