The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land. -Gilbert K. Chesterton
The Weekly Photo Challenge is: Foreign. This is a very broad topic – first thought: “Any travel shot will do”. Followed by, “What is foreign to me is not foreign to someone else.” Followed by host Sara Rosso imploring us to “Please post a new post, not one from your archives.” Personally, I think delving into one’s archives is just as applicable as a new shot – searching archives for just that right shot to express the challenge is, I find, fun. But I digress. End result is, I decided to forego my travel shots, closed my archives and took a walk in our woods. My own backyard, where I walk every day – what can I find that is foreign there … Loosely defining “foreign” as something outside of my own ‘ordinary’, defining it as walking into a familiar place and seeing what I’ve not seen before, this, today is what I took time to see …
Stunning shot, Lynne!

Who knew a shot of a mushroom could be so lovely. Nice shot and a fine foreign object.

The mushroom is not foreign to my yard, but the view of it is foreign to me 🙂
