Tagged!

Carol over at Wanderings of an Elusive Mind tagged me and I thought I would play along.  The rules are:

1.Each person must post 11 things about him/herself on their blog.
2.Answer the questions the “tagger” listed for you in their post, (And create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer).
3.Choose 11 people to tag and link to them in the post.
4.Let each blogger know that you have tagged them.

Eleven things about me:

When I was only about eight or nine my sister and her friend  introduced me to cigarettes down in her friend’s basement, behind the water heater.

Some of my favourite things are Granny Smith apples, the scent of lilies of the valley, the sound of quiet, and sandwiches of cheddar cheese and peanut butter.

As a young girl I was known to get up in the middle of the night to tidy my room because I couldn’t get to sleep in all the mess.

My favourite pieces of music include Reflections of Passion by Yanni, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, and Strauss’s Blue Danube.

Spaghetti is my comfort food.

As a teenager I had a passion for writing letters and over time had about 60 pen pals from around the world.

Some of my favourite things include being able to pay my bills on time and immersing myself in a good historical novel.

I believe I have been very fortunate my whole life … for every crisis there has been a positive outcome.

I saw the Beatles live in 1964, 1965 and 1966.  And the Rolling Stones in 1965 and 1972.  That’s a give-away as to my age.

I like dogs but cats make my eyes itch and my nose run.

I liked Pierre Trudeau.

And these are my answers to my tagger’s questions:

1. What was your all-time favorite movie?
Hmmm, not a true movie buff – I usually can’t even remember the titles, very bad with titles.   Beaches with Bette Midler really got a response out of me; I have seen it more than once and cried rivers of tears each time.

2. What was your all-time favorite book?
Again, bad with titles.  There are some that I have read more than once – Gone with the Wind, Watership Down by Richard Adams.  Oh, perhaps the favourite would be Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett – it was one of those that I didn’t want to end I was enjoying it so much.

3. How do you spend your me time (you do make sure you have me time, don’t you?)?
Oh I have lots of time for me, being retired and all and lovin’ it.  I spend it in my studio playing with watercolours and pastels, or, more often lately, in my half of the den at my computer, writing.  For those times when I need a caress of the soul I search out water – to sit by, to smell, to be mesmerized by.  Not having that, our woods are a reasonable substitute.

4. If you could do anything you wanted for one day, what would you do?
First thing that comes to mind is indulge my love for travel in a place I’ve never been before and share it with my husband and sister and brother-in-law.

5. Do you see things in the clouds?
I do. But nothing as fanciful as my grandson who saw an apple eating too many peanuts as we lay on our backs in the grass one day.

6. If you were going to a sporting event, what sport would you choose?
I’m looking forward to watching the gymnastics in the upcoming Olympics.

7. How do you dress when you go shopping?
I try to dress up from my usual attire of jeans around the house, but, doesn’t always happen. I’m definitely not a clothes horse.

8. Do you prefer shopping alone, with friends, or with significant other?
Alone.  I putz a lot when shopping.  Although going with a friend or daughter and stopping for coffee makes a nice day out of it.  My sister and I do well together on our trips when it comes to window shopping.

9. Will you be watching the Olympics on TV this summer?
Yes, some of it.

10. Does the idea of getting the wrinkles that come with the maturing process bother you?
No, not really, I don’t think about it too much one way or the other, it just happens. That’s not to say I’m not somewhat surprised when I catch sight of myself in the mirror and wonder who that old(er) person is.

11. Do you eat four to five servings of fruit and vegetables a day?
Every day?  Probably not but often I do.  I don’t count it out.  My servings of fruit and veggies are usually quite large.

I’m not going to tag other people. I’m going to take my cue from Carol and extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to take part – it could help if you are struggling with ideas for your next post. If you take part I’d be interested in reading it if you will leave a link in the comments section below.

My questions are:

  1. What is your favourite place?  Near or far, a room or a city – just a favourite place.
  2. If you had to lose one of your five senses, which one would you give up and why?
  3. Will you share and describe a happy moment in your past, recent or distant?
  4. If you were given a free trip to anywhere, where would you go?
  5. Who is your favourite artist and what is it about their art that appeals to you?
  6. What song or piece of music is a favourite of yours?
  7. What are five positive adjectives that describe you? Boast a bit, it’s OK.
  8. Do you have a favourite TV show and if so, which one?
  9. Do you believe in fate?
  10. What are five things that make you feel happy?
  11. How do you think others see you?

    1. Thanks, Carol – I sat there at the keyboard absolutely blank for a while – couldn’t think of any reasonable questions, then it got better.

    1. Oh yes, from all over the world. A day without a letter or two in the post was a sad day. Perhaps that’s why I am enjoying the blogging so much – it’s like having LOTS of penpals!
