Tickled Pink … or green

The Versatile Blogger Award

Tickled pink was an expression my father ,used to say and it fits the situation.  Fellow blogger Madhu nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award – now, I mean, how cools is this?!  The first time I hit that ‘publish’ button not yet two months ago I did so with great trepidation and a last thought of “Do I really want to do this?!” Now, here I am, Addicted.  It’s wonderful being retired and able to follow one’s whims and passions.  This blogging has currently totally side-tracked me from my original reasoning in starting the blog in the first place, which was to share my art with any of those that might be interested (that is: immediate family and friends).

As a recipient of the award I have to:

1. Thank the person who gave me this award, which I humbly do, Madhu and include a link to their blog, which I have done, above.

2. Tell 7 things about myself:

I believe there are two heights of luxury:  one is lying in a hammock on a hot summer day, with the breeze gently blowing and a glass of ice-something to sip.  The other is the facility to take an afternoon nap – when the eyelids droop, the body flags and the mind goes into a hold pattern nothing is more luxurious than putting head to pillow in the middle of the day and pulling up the blanket.

When I watch the seasonal migration of the Canada geese, I always wish them God speed and safe journey.

The tears I shed watching the movie Beaches with Bette Midler are legendary, and that’s not just the first time I saw it, but the second and third as well … in fact I could pass through the room and catch only the last few minutes of it and I would be sobbing.

When I get into something I can be a bit single-minded and at one time I spent so much time in the local fabric store that my children called it “Mummy’s store”.

I could sit by the water for hours and hours—any water—lake, stream, ocean, river, marshland, mesmerized by the sound, the smell, the patterns, the soothing cadence be it a gurgling brook or shooshing waves over a pebbled shore.

I love the music of the 60s – turn that Ipod on and crank the speakers up several decibels (without the ear pods in!) and I’ll be tapping toes and singing along … not a pretty sound for I must confess, I cannot sing … but it’s great to do housework to, or when extra inspiration is required in the studio.

I love green olives   And I love fresh asparagus, a glass of white wine in the quiet before supper, and seafood sauce … I used to think it was the shrimp I liked, but no, it’s the sauce.

And I am to nominate 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award:

This is a bit more difficult not because there is a lack of excellent sites, but because I’m still building my ‘library’.  There is such a wealth of information out there – these are sites that I am currently following and enjoy and whom I nominate for this lovely pick-me-up, gratifying and validating Versatile Blogger Award:

  1. I must admit, I was curious about the motivation that spurred you to develop your blog, You are to be commended on the many qualities that “Beyond The Brush” delivers. Your writings have been diverse, inciteful, amusing and passionate, thank you. You’ve also reminded me to “stop and smell the roses”, at least once in awhile…..

  2. Awww, thank you Lynne. I’m not sure I have anything to tell about me everyone doesn’t already know, but I’ll see what I can come up with. As to being single-minded, we share that – what, quality, affliction? I’ve always said you can tell what my current obsession is by the magazines I’m reading. Which is more difficult now, because I’m going digital.
