Taken inside the glacier atop Jungfrau, one of the main peaks in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. The map shows the location of the Ice Palace – on the left – and the rail station, the highest in Europe, both inside the mountain. The other photo is taken in the tunnel leading from the rail station.

WOW!!! That is amazing! What a great shot. And I love the little ice penguins!!
It was pretty ‘cool’ … sorry, pun intended
hahaha – i tried to avoid saying that but yes, it is really cool !!
What a remarkable task of building the tunnel! Thank you for sharing,Lynne!
It’s actually quite a complex they have in the ice palace and the rest of it, with the rail station, shops, restaurant etc – it’s quite large.
I saw a post today that said something like “It is impossible to be angry when looking at penguins.”
At first you had me stumped Robin and I thought you were perhaps, losing it … perhaps. Then I realized the ice carvings were penguins.
I can see how that would stump you!
Wow I never knew this existed, it must have been fascinating, and cold?
Fascinating, yes, but no not cold – some had jackets on. I did take only mincing little steps though, in fear of slipping but even outside on the glacier it was only cool.
Beautiful
Great picture for this week’s challenge theme. Wonderful post!
Thank you, Arindam, appreciated.
A perfect subject for this challenge!
Thanks, Robin
